Finding a Snake in Your House? Here’s What to Do (And Why You Shouldn’t Panic)

Trying to kill it

Attempting to capture it

Cornering it

Step 3: Call for Help
You don’t have to handle this alone.

Call animal control: If the snake is indoors and accessible

Call wildlife removal: If it’s large, hidden, or possibly venomous

Call a neighbor: Only if you’re sure it’s harmless

Do NOT call emergency services unless someone has been bitten.
When calling, describe:

Location

Size and color

Whether it might be venomous

Any injuries

Step 4: If the Snake Might Be Venomous
Take extra precautions:

Leave the room immediately

Close and seal the door

Keep pets far away

Do not attempt to move or provoke it
